Mayco Stoneware Glazes Cone 4-6 (Non Toxic)
Cone 6 oxidation (first image): Mint Speck is a satin-matte, semi-opaque mint green that breaks over texture. Contains small purple, orange and yellow specks. This glaze is highly stable.
Cone 10 reduction (second image): Changes to a glossy, transparent pale blue. Specks blur and lose definition with increased application thickness. Remains stable.
Cone 5 oxidation (third image): 1-2-3-4 coats.
Cone 6 oxidation (fourth image): 1-2-3-4 coats.
Cone 10 reduction (fifth image): 1-2-3-4 coats.
Tips:
- Mint Speck uses SW135 Wintergreen as the base glaze.
- We recommend firing our matte glazes to cone 6 to produce a satin matte finish.
- Upon opening, specks will be concentrated in the bottom of the bottle. Stir/shake thoroughly to incorporate before each use.
- Can be used in oxidation or reduction firings. Results may vary.
- The choice of clay body, thickness of glaze application, firing process and temperature will affect the fired results. Always test in your kiln, on your clay body.
Stoneware matte glazes range from solid shades to those that create interesting color variations as they move and break. Application thickness is the key to making mattes work for you.
Chips shown are fired flat on a white clay body fired to cone 6 oxidation and cone 10 reduction. The choice of clay body, the thickness of glaze application, the firing process, and temperature will affect the fired results.
